Our Story
A legacy written in the snow
The Attridge name isn't just on our front door — it's etched into the geography of the Okanagan. Our roots go back to the 1950s, when Bill Attridge, father of our founder Jim, co-founded Silver Star Mountain Resort. If you've ever dropped into the powder on Attridge Face, you've shredded the very ridge named in honour of the family's contribution to the mountain.
That pioneering spirit is what built the foundation of our shop in 1986, and it's the same passion we bring to outfitting your family today.

A Vernon institution
In 1986, Jim Attridge transitioned from employee to owner, purchasing what was then Karl's Sport House. Shortly after, he integrated the summer operations of Pete's Windsurf Shop, transforming the space into Vernon's premier year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
For nearly four decades, we've been the home base for Okanagan families — from the first-timer clicking into skis at Silver Star to the seasoned pro carving up the glass on Kalamalka Lake.
The next generation
In 2017, after 31 years of leadership, Jim passed the torch to Kyle and Melissa de Hrussoczy-Wirth. As a long-time customer with 20 years of experience working at ski hills across Western Canada, Kyle didn't just buy a business — he stepped in to continue a legacy he grew up admiring.
Today, we remain a fiercely independent, locally-owned shop dedicated to the sports we love.
