ATOMIC Ā· 2027 Ā· WOMEN'S BACKCOUNTRY / FREERIDE TOURING
Atomic Backland 108 W Skis

Who it's for: Technically capable women skiers who are serious about the uphill and demand performance on the way down. The Backland 108 W carries the same construction, rocker profile, and touring-specific engineering as the Backland 109 in a lighter, shorter package built for women. Built for skiers doing full day tours in the Gorge, Rogers Pass, or Revelstoke's sidecountry — this is a ski that rewards an aggressive, driving style rather than a more relaxed, surfy one.

The Backland 108 W is the women's version of Atomic's most touring-focused wide-waist ski — same construction, same 25/55/20 asymmetric Powder Rocker profile, same FreeTour engineering, lighter and shorter. At 1310g for the 167cm, it's a genuinely light ski for what it delivers: a stiff, directional, performance-focused touring ski that doesn't ask you to compromise between skinning efficiency and descent capability.

The asymmetric 25/55/20 rocker keeps the ski directional and locked-in at speed — more tip rocker than tail, which means confident float in deep snow on the way down and predictable edge hold on firm terrain. An Ultra Light Woodcore and fiberglass layup deliver torsional rigidity without the weight penalty. This is not a forgiving all-conditions ski. It rewards skiers who know how to drive a ski and want it to respond when they do.

Profile
Powder Rocker (25/55/20)
Asymmetric tip-heavy rocker keeps the ski directional and locked-in at speed. More tip float than tail rocker means confident entry in deep snow without sacrificing stability or edge hold on firm terrain.

Shape & Mount
HRZN 3D Backland directional shape
Atomic's HRZN 3D tip and tail shaping reduces swing weight for efficient skinning while maintaining the tip geometry needed for float and confident entry in variable backcountry snow.
What Makes It Work
Ultra Light Woodcore & Fiberglass
A lightweight wood core paired with fiberglass layup delivers torsional rigidity and stability under load — keeping the ski light enough to tour on and stiff enough to perform on the way down.
FreeTour Profile
Atomic's touring-optimised profile balances skinning efficiency on the ascent with descent performance in variable and technical snow — built for skiers who take both directions seriously.
Dura Cap Sidewall & HRZN 3D Backland Shape
Sidewall construction for edge grip and durability, paired with Atomic's HRZN 3D tip and tail shaping that reduces swing weight — critical on a touring ski where every gram on the ends costs you on a long climb.
Size Guide
Length (cm) Turn Radius (m) Ski Weight (g) Recommended Skier Height

IS THIS THE RIGHT SKI?
The Backland 108 W rewards a technically aggressive skiing style. If you're looking for a more forgiving deep snow ride, the Armada ARV 116 JJ UL is softer and more surfy in deep snow. For a calmer, damper ride that crosses over well to the resort, the Salomon Echo 106 is worth a look. Also available in the Backland 109 in larger sizes for taller skiers. We're happy to talk through which ski suits your objectives in store.
Recommended Binding
Paired with the ATK Raider SL Black 108mm — a lightweight tech binding that keeps the Backland 108 W honest on the skin track without giving up release performance on the descent.

In stock at Attridge Ski & Board in Vernon — built for women who take the Gorge, Rogers Pass, and Revelstoke's sidecountry seriously.
