SALOMON Ā· 2027 Ā· BACKCOUNTRY / RESORT CROSSOVER
Salomon S/LAB QST Echo 106 Skis

Who it's for: Skiers who want one ski that crosses over between resort and backcountry without feeling like a compromise in either direction. The Echo 106 is the calmest, dampest ski on our backcountry wall — built for skiers who want a composed, planted ride in variable and challenging snow. If you ski the backcountry like you ski the resort, this is the ski for you.

The S/LAB QST Echo 106 is built on a fundamentally different platform from the rest of the QST lineup. Where the QST 94, 100, and 106 use BST laminate, the Echo 106 uses Flax Carbon Superlight Fibers — a construction that prioritises natural damping and a composed feel over raw stiffness or energy return. The result is a ski that feels planted and confident in challenging, variable snow rather than lively and reactive. At 106mm underfoot it floats through soft snow easily, but this is a ski built for the skier who values control over playfulness.

The Double Sidewalls Technology — built from 100% recycled materials — adds further damping and edge hold, keeping the ski composed at speed in the variable terrain you encounter on a long backcountry descent or a big resort day in mixed conditions. Paired with the Salomon S/LAB Shift binding, it's a complete resort-to-backcountry setup that earns its place on both walls.

Profile
Freeride Profile (25/58/17)
With 25% tip rocker, 58% camber, and 17% tail rocker, the Freeride Profile has more rocker in the tip than the tail — confident float in deep snow with a directional, stable feel at speed.

Construction
Flax Carbon & Double Sidewalls
Flax Carbon Superlight Fibers and Double Sidewalls Technology give the Echo 106 its defining character — calmer and damper than the QST lineup, composed in variable snow rather than reactive and energetic.
What Makes It Work
Flax Carbon Superlight Fibers (C/FX)
Flax fibres combined with carbon give the Echo 106 a naturally damp, composed feel that absorbs vibration and variable snow rather than transmitting it to the skier — the key reason this ski feels calmer than others at 106mm.
Double Sidewalls Technology
100% recycled double sidewalls add damping and edge hold — keeping the ski planted in challenging terrain and composed at the speeds a backcountry descent demands.
Karuba/Poplar Full Woodcore & Wide Steel Edge
A Karuba and Poplar wood blend delivers a lively, responsive feel underfoot while remaining light — Wide Steel Edge adds edge durability for a ski that will see demanding resort and backcountry terrain in equal measure.

Sizing by Ability Level

Salomon recommends sizing the QST Echo 106 based on your height and ability. Find your height in centimetres, then add the offset range below to find your ideal length. Note: Salomon's sizing for the Echo 106 runs more conservative than the QST 100 or 106 — designed for skiers who prioritise control and composure over float.

Ability Level Length Offset Example (175cm skier)
Beginner –5 to 0cm 170–175cm → size 173
Intermediate 0 to +5cm 175–180cm → size 181
Advanced +5 to +10cm 180–185cm → size 181
Expert +5 to +10cm 180–185cm → size 181
IS THIS THE RIGHT SKI?
The Echo 106 is the calmest, most resort-crossover-friendly ski on our backcountry wall. For a softer, more playful and surfy feel in deep snow, the Armada ARV 116 JJ UL is the easier-skiing option in deep snow. For the most technically demanding and touring-specific ski on the wall, the Atomic Backland 109 rewards an aggressive, driving style. We're happy to talk through which ski suits your skiing in store.
Recommended Binding
Paired with the Salomon S/LAB Shift² 13 MN Byzantium SH100 — a hybrid touring binding that walks and releases like a tech binding while skiing like an alpine binding. The natural pairing for a ski that lives in both worlds.

In stock in all five lengths at Attridge Ski & Board in Vernon — the ski for skiers who want the resort and the backcountry in equal measure.
