Surf Style Wakesurf Board ā Ronix ā 2026
Who this is for
Anyone from first-timers to experienced riders who wants a board that just works. If you want to drop the rope, carve a real bottom turn, and still have something your friends can ride, this is the board. There's a reason we call it the one-board quiver.
The board
Thereās a rule in our shop: every boat on Okanagan Lake needs a Koal Fish. As we put it in our guide to choosing a wakesurf board, āThey are great for learning and more experienced riders enjoy the classic surf feel.ā Ronix built the 2026 Koal Classic Fish as a timeless surf shape ā thicker profile, rounded rails, and large fins that generate drive and give you the grip needed to pump the wave for speed. The Koal Classic construction wraps wood laminates top and bottom for natural dampening that smooths out afternoon chop on the Okanagan Lakes. It rides loose off the top and drives hard through a bottom turn, and whether youāre carving your first real cutback or youāve been on the water for years, it keeps up. This is the board everyone on your boat wants to ride.
Why we recommend starting with surf style
Surf boards are thicker with more volume and use larger fins to generate drive. The rounded rails tuck into the face of the wake, making the board stable and less sensitive to small foot movements. That stability is what lets a beginner find the pocket and drop the rope ā and what lets an experienced rider focus on carving deep, aggressive turns. We always recommend starting your quiver here. You can always add a skim board once youāre ready, but trying to learn the basics on a skim board can be more challenging.
What makes it work
Stability First ā Rounded Rails
The rounded rails tuck into the face of the wake, making the board stable and forgiving ā less sensitive to tiny foot movements. This is what lets beginners stay in the pocket and what lets experienced riders carve with confidence. The Fishās thicker profile and volume keep you riding, not fighting.
Swallow Tail Fish Shape
The Fish tail widens your turning arc for snappy, linked carves while keeping enough surface area under your back foot for drive and power through the pocket. It rides loose off the top and still delivers on the bottom turn ā a timeless shape that works at every ability level.
Tool-Less Fin-S System ā Change Your Personality
Think of fins as the tires on a car ā you can completely change the boardās feel just by swapping them. The Fin-S system clicks in and out without a screwdriver. Run the full thruster (three-fin) for a locked-in, powerful drive, or pull the centre fin and ride twin for a looser tail and easier 360s. Comes with one 3ā and two 4ā Blueprint fiberglass fins.
Koal Classic Construction ā Wood Dampening
A surf core wrapped in wood laminates top and bottom for natural vibration dampening. The result is a plush, organic ride that absorbs chop and delivers a smooth feel on the water ā particularly useful on Okanagan Lake when the afternoon wind picks up. Durable, consistent, and forgiving without feeling sluggish.

Weight ranges are a guide based on average build and wake size. As we explain in our board guide, most boards have a 50lb sweet spot ā if youāre outside that range youāre either working too hard to stay in the wave or the board is too buoyant to control. Beginners should lean toward a larger board for a more stable platform. Not sure which is right for you? Call us ā weāve matched a lot of Okanagan riders to this board.
