Skim Style Wakesurf Board — Phase Five — 2026
Who this is for
Smaller and lighter riders — women, groms, and anyone who has felt like most skim boards were built for someone else. If you’ve been riding a board that’s too wide for your body to properly control, the Mindset was designed to fix that. Pro-level performance in a shape that actually fits.
The board
The 2026 Phase Five Mindset came directly from a problem pro rider Ashley Inloes identified on the water. Watching footage of riders like Jett Lambert, she noticed her feet sat much closer to the centre of the board than theirs did — the board was too wide for her body to generate the same edge control and pop. So she and Phase Five built a narrower shape from scratch, specifically refined for smaller riders. The result is a board that rides revert, spins tricks, and launches airs with pro-level precision — but in a width that a smaller rider can actually put on rail. Constructed with Hybrid Carbon Innegra for lightweight stiffness, and fitted with Phase Five’s thinnest 5/8” profile and PROPEL™ base for maximum speed across the flats of Okanagan Lake, this is the high-performance machine that smaller riders have been waiting for.
What makes it work
Narrower Width — Built for Smaller Riders
Most skim boards are designed around a body that isn’t yours. Ashley’s insight was simple: a narrower board puts your feet closer to the rails, which means more direct edge control, more pop, and less work to put the board on its side. Smaller riders get the same precision that bigger riders get on wider boards.
Hybrid Carbon Innegra Construction
The same Hybrid Carbon Innegra construction found on the Matrix Payne Pro — a lightweight, stiff glass weave combining carbon and Innegra fibres for durability and explosive response. Built to take the repeated impacts of progressive trick riding season after season on Okanagan Lake.
5/8” Profile + PROPEL™ Base
Phase Five’s thinnest core profile keeps swing weight minimal — essential for quick rotations and effortless reverts. The PROPEL™ base is a specialised high-speed bottom that helps the board glide through the flat sections and carry speed into every trick.
Single 1” Skim Fin
A single 1” fin gives you just enough tracking to stay connected while being small enough to release instantly into a spin. The same setup as the Matrix — loose, skatey, and designed for technical trick riding. The Mindset delivers that same feel in a shape lighter riders can fully control.
