Salomon S/LAB Shift² 10 MN Bindings
Who it's for: Skiers in the 49–100kg range who want the full hike-and-ride capability of the Shift² at a DIN setting that suits them. Well suited to lighter advanced skiers and intermediates moving into backcountry touring — if you're skiing at DIN 8 or above, the Shift² 13 is the better fit.

The Shift² 10 uses the same hike-and-ride mechanism as the 13 and 16 — tech pin toe in walk mode, full DIN alpine toe on the descent — tuned for a lower DIN range. Flip the switch, the pins retract, and you're in a TÜV-certified alpine binding. At 915g per binding it's the lightest model in the Shift² family, covering the DIN range most intermediate and lighter advanced skiers actually use.
Like the rest of the Shift² range, it carries the Power Block AFD — a single-block aluminum insert that holds its height setting through a full season without the creep the original Shift was known for — and a revised brake lock system. Multi-Norm certified, it accepts Alpine (ISO 5355), GripWalk (ISO 23223), and Touring (ISO 9523) boot soles. Touring boots require tech inserts at the toe for walk mode engagement.
What Makes It Work
Hike & Ride Switch
In walk mode the toe engages like a tech pin binding — free-pivoting and efficient on the skin track. Flip the switch and the pins retract, revealing a full DIN alpine toe for the descent. The transition takes seconds and you stay in the binding.
Power Block AFD
A single-block aluminum insert with a metal-on-plastic interface that holds its height setting through a full season. The original Shift's AFD was known to creep over time — the new design locks in place, keeping lateral power transmission and release values consistent.
Multi-Norm Certified
TÜV certified and compatible with Alpine (ISO 5355), GripWalk (ISO 23223), and Touring (ISO 9523) soles. One binding works across your resort boot, your GripWalk boot, and your touring boot — provided the touring boot has tech inserts for walk mode engagement.
Improved Brake Lock
The Shift² redesigns the brake lock system from the original. Brakes engage positively in both ski and walk modes and stay where you put them — a known weak point on the first-generation Shift that's been addressed in the ² revision.
