Product description
Wakefoil Board — Ronix — 2026
Who this is for
Beginner to intermediate foilers who want a stable, predictable board that keeps them in control while they develop the skills to fly on Okanagan Lake. The 727 Tuff Tech is our recommended pairing with the Ronix Shift foil kit — and built tough enough to survive the learning curve.
The board
Five years in the making, the Ronix 727 Tuff Tech is the most stable foil board in the Ronix lineup and the one we recommend for anyone getting started with wakefoiling. The 727 name carries real meaning: Herb O’Brien, one of Ronix’s founders and the pioneer of modern compression-moulded waterski and wakeboard design, was born on July 27th — as was his father Ed, a key engineer on the Boeing 727 aircraft and the man who built Radar Lake. The 727 board pays tribute to both — blending the hydrodynamics of watersports design with the aerodynamics of flight. Built on a Koal Classic core and wrapped in Ronix’s Surface Skin, the 727 Tuff Tech is specifically engineered to absorb the hard, untimed encounters that come with learning to foil — board-to-rack hits, awkward landings, the general abuse of a beginner’s first season on Kalamalka Lake. An exaggerated bevel around the board’s outline disperses water on touchdown, adjustable foot straps are included to help with deep water starts and aerial progression, and three stance options for both front and rear foot let you dial in position as your riding style develops. Foil kit and hardware sold separately.
What makes it work
Tuff Tech Construction
A Koal Classic core wrapped in Ronix’s Surface Skin — a tough, durable outer layer built specifically to handle hard hits. Learning to foil involves falling, and the board will meet your boat’s rack, dock, and other surfaces in ways you can’t always predict. The Tuff Tech construction is the reason this board survives a full beginner season on Okanagan Lake without needing to be replaced.
Stable, Centred Riding Position
Every design decision on the 727 — rocker, bevel, profile, and swing weight — was made specifically for foiling. The result is a neutrally balanced, medium-tempo board that keeps you in a stable, backseat position and always feeling in control. It’s the perfect counter to the Balance wing series: forgiving enough for the learning curve, with enough performance to grow into.
Adjustable Foot Straps Included
Straps give new foilers an added connection to the board that makes deep water starts significantly easier — which is the hardest part of learning to foil for most riders on Okanagan Lake. Three stance options for both front and rear foot let you find the right position for your height and style. As skills progress, straps also support aerial development for more advanced riders.
Blended EVA Traction + Bevel Edge
A compound foam-rubber traction pad with machined grooves gives a softer feel underfoot than standard EVA while delivering solid grip for foiling. The exaggerated bevel around the board’s outline is a foil-specific design feature — it disperses water on touchdown so the board doesn’t drag and catch when it touches the surface, keeping transitions smooth on Kalamalka Lake.

Sizing note — ability matters more than weight Unlike wakesurf boards, foil board size is not primarily weight-driven. Ronix have had riders at 230 lbs prefer the 3’8” and riders at 175 lbs prefer the 4’8”. The 3’8” offers more lift, quicker response and tighter turns — better for advanced riders. The 4’8” offers easier deep water starts, more stability, and more control in rough water — better for beginners, especially paired with the Shift adjustable mast on Okanagan Lake. The 4’1” is the sweet spot between the two. Not sure which size is right for you? Come see us in-store and we’ll talk it through.
