Born from a blog in a sleepy seaside village on the Central Coast way back in 2009, The Critical Slide Society was founded on a vision that embodies the heart and soul of authentic surf culture. We didn’t start as a brand. We were surfers & artists, photographers & illustrators, musicians & film makers. A network of friends.Â
As a creative label, we’ve collaborated with makers from across the globe who all share a similar outlook and inspiration - to shift focus from the competitions and the winner's podium back to the pure joy of you, a board and the waves.
We wanted to create a brand that would connect people through a blend of fashion, art, surf, coast and community - stripping the lifestyle back to its roots and bringing surf culture and sustainability to the forefront. Fast forward to today, and The Critical Slide Society has won the Best Boardshorts three years in a row and is stocked in the best retail stores worldwide.
At Critical Slide, we’re keeping things plant-based, organic and recycled, for the sake of the planet. To keep plastic out of the ocean, we swapped out our plastic-poly packaging for bags made of compostable cornstarch. For the atmosphere, we’ve done away with petrochemicals to make all our wetsuits from plant-based Yurex. For our soil, we’re keeping organic cotton, polyester and nylon offcuts out of landfill by producing most of our tees and boardies from recycled materials.
We’re not sacrificing quality, either - it’s better. Season by season, we’re taking steps toward becoming a more sustainable brand that respects the environment, making your next purchase one you can feel good about.
